We have a true passion for horses.
At Quarter Oaks Natural Horsemanship we are fortunate to be surrounded by rolling green hills and are situated on the Taieri Plains, New Zealand, close to some of Otagos best horse facilities. At Quarter Oaks we work as a team to ensure both you and your horse can be all you can be.
Stewart has been following Natural Horsemanship for the past 15 years but originally started into horses when he went out farming at 15. He was reintroduced to horses through his wife Karen and they both participated in competitive trail riding and taking friends and family deer hunting in the back country of Central Otago.
Due to a series of accidents with his wife’s thoroughbred, new solutions to training were sought and it is then that the Parker family discovered Parelli. In 2000 Stewart participated in a 3 week Level 3 camp with Linda Parelli in Australia. Stewart returned to Australia in 2001 as a working student and studied under Parelli instructors Mel Fleming and Steve Byrnes for 6 months.
Over the last few of years Stewart has started and trainined a number of horses including the preparation of two ponies for his daughter Lorie and continued his study of natural horsemanship.
Karen, wife of Stewart and mum to Lorie, is the voice you will hear on the phone. She has owned horses for 30+ years and is passionate about Natural Horsemanship. Karen is has an number of horses in training and has her Parelli Level 3 with her Andalusian gelding and her long term goal is to compete in dressage. Part of obtaining this goal included a Mastery clinic with Linda Parelli in 2016.
Karen is a registered Equine Touch Practitioner and has an on-going interest in healing methods and natural horsemanship. This puts her in the unique position of being able to see the whole picture to improve your horses mental, emotional and physical well-being.
